Post Boy Scouts Pow Wow Event

Each fall the CPCBSA, Cascade Pacific Council Boy Scouts of America, hosts a one day event called “Pow Wow.” This event is designed to give Boy Scout leaders new ideas and resources for their troops by providing them with the opportunity to attend training sessions and speak with dozens of vendors.

I set up a Backyard Bass booth at the Pow Wow and was able to interact with hundreds of Boy Scout leaders. Some of the most common questions I received about the Backyard Bass were:

-How do the Backyard Bass work? See “How to Use” section above

-Do the Backyard Bass Float? Yes

-Can the Backyard Bass be used to earn a Boy Scouts belt or badge? We are currently working with the Boy Scouts to determine how the Backyard Bass can contribute to earning a badge. In any case, the Backyard Bass will aid scouts in learning to cast and tie knots.

Inbetween training sessions at the Pow Wow, the large lunch room of the building cleared up which provided a great opportunity for testing out the Backyard Bass. A few eager scouts took a liking to the bass and showed off their casting skills. Check out the scouts in action below!

Testimonials

“Kids love playing with the Backyard Bass. It truly is a great way to practice casting while having fun. I recommend it to parents and grandparents all the time.”
Tanya Z. Angler Educator

“Backyard Bass are the perfect lead-up casting activity for my Angling unit. They are a great instructional tool for teaching fish identification as well as being a great target for casting practice. My high school students enjoy the indoor Backyard Bass tournaments as much as the real thing out on the water sometimes.”
Tonya G. Exercise and Sport Science Teacher

"...Backyard Bass games was a big hit and was instrumental in achieving our goal. We had 308 kids who came to participate in our event. We had great weather conditions and the kids were smiling all day long."
